Eating your own dog food

“Eating your own dog food.”

Quite possibly the worst business metaphor of all time.

Although the visual is awful, the practice is profound.

For those who may not be aware (from Wikipedia): “Eating your own dog food, also called dogfooding, is a slang term used to reference a scenario in which a company uses its own product to validate the quality and capabilities of the product.”

We at GTG are dogfooding and dogfooding in a big way. In the last 6 weeks, we have hired 5 former college athletes and have asked them to share their perspectives of the student-athlete experience.

How did they transition from HS to college? How did they choose their major? How did they manage their time? How active was their career planning? What was the transition away from sport like? What was the transition into the workforce like? How awesome is it to work at Game Theory Group?

The last one I slipped in but you get it – we are dogfooding. The student-athlete experience is earned by a select group of people and we are very fortunate here at GTG to be surrounded by so many of these truly exceptional individuals.
