“Game Plan has been an asset in my role specifically because it allows me to distribute lots of different content to all our student-athletes without needing them to attend an in-person meeting or program. It allows them to consume the information when it works within their busy schedules.”

UC Irvine
Using Game Plan, University of California, Irvine has been able to more effectively and efficiently reach their athletes. As part of their Freshman Experience course, they utilize Game Plan modules that correlate with the topics they are covering each week to help reinforce concepts and enhance student-athlete knowledge. In addition, they administer three or four modules each quarter to all student-athletes based on what would be most beneficial for their development during that specific quarter and time of the year.
Hannah Mitchell, Student-Athlete Development Coordinator at UC Irvine stated, “I am thankful for our partnership with Game Plan as it allows me to reach all of our student-athletes on one platform and provide valuable and meaningful education.” Through Game Plan, UCI effectively engages their students to help them navigate college life successfully, creating a more positive and supportive community for everyone involved.
UCI uses a wide variety of eLearning content to ensure student-athletes receive valuable education across multiple areas. With the help of the Game Plan team, UC Irvine created a custom course covering NCAA and UCI academic eligibility requirements, which is administered every year to incoming students and as an annual refresher for current students. By leveraging this custom content, UCI ensures that student-athletes are well-informed and prepared to successfully balance their academic and athletic responsibilities.
In addition to student-athlete education, UCI has utilized Game Plan’s Sexual Violence Prevention courses to educate and train staff so they are equipped with the tools to address and handle such situations appropriately. This proactive approach not only fosters a safer and more inclusive campus environment but also demonstrates UCI's commitment to addressing important social issues and promoting a culture of respect and accountability.
Game Plan has allowed UCI Athletics to engage with their student-athletes in a more effective and flexible way, while still providing them with the holistic development they need. Mitchell states, “Game Plan has been an asset in my role specifically because it allows me to distribute lots of different content to all our student-athletes without needing them to attend an in-person meeting or program. It allows them to consume the information when it works within their busy schedules.” With student-athletes and staff’s hectic schedules during the school year, providing education and development in a way that fits into everyone's schedule has been a huge boost for UC Irvine.
